#1 Nissan Xterra 4x4 2005. Enjoy having one of the most powerful V6 engines in its class if you add this vehicle to your garage. With great off road ability and convenient cargo space, mixed in with above average quality/reliability, this is a vehicle that you can't go wrong with this summer.

#2 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 of 2007. For off road capabilities it doesn't get much better than the Jeep Wrangler. While the absolute precision capabilities of this vehicle may not be that great, it will still take you around (or over) anywhere you want to go!

#3 Toyota Tundra 5.7-litter V8 of 2008. If Toyotas well known reliability assurance wasn't enough, maybe the 381 hp that comes packed in is. This V8 is surprisingly quick, 0-60 mph averaging 6.5 seconds is enough to blast through any beaten path available.

#4 Honda Pilot 4WD EX-L of 2010. Maybe you want something that is capable of following the dirt roads while not having to sacrifice outstanding reliability and decent mpg? The Honda Pilot, while not being an agressive off roader, does offer a nice balance of everything you would want to do this summer. Traveling on highway and around town with sufficient cargo room and an average of 20 mpg might finish the deal.

#5 Ford Escape 4WD limited of 2010. The escape has some surprising features as well as greater than anticipated mpg. With it being a bigger vehicle exceptions would be that its a little slower and poor handling. However, it is quite opposite. The Escape manages an average of 23 mpg (its a 4-cylinder) and has been reported for a nice "peppy" performance.
